Sand-shale interbed refined calibration: an example of Bingdong beach-bar sandstone in Dongying Depression

Abstract:We propose in this paper a refined calibration approach for sand-shale interbed with the “principle of re-calibration” under guidance of seismic facies and demonstrate an example of beach-bar sandstone of upper Es4 in Bingdong. Bingdong beach-bar sandstone locates in the lower part where oil shale is concentrated. It is characterized by deeply buried interbeds in a small stretching range. Based on the judgment of polarity on seismic sections and under the guidance of seismic facies, we calibrate precisely sand-shale interbed by this approach together with time-varying wavelet. The calibration results are verified by analyzing the corresponding relationship between amplitude and reflection coefficient series of targets.
