Abstract:Seismic energy distribution from targets is uneven in the areas with rough surface and complex subsurface. We propose in this paper an optimal geometry design to improve target shadow imaging. First we use ray tracing or wave equation forward modeling to determine the minimum energy area at targets. Then we calculate illumination energy at pre-set shot points in the minimum energy area with both the mean energy ratio coefficient and the distance energy ratio coefficient. Finally we determine shot points based on the mean variance of the target illumination energy. This method is effective in the area with steep dips, overthrust nappes, lateral velocity variation. Both illumination energy at shadow targets and data image can be improved with a given number of shots.
