Abstract:Microseismic monitoring plays an important role in the development of unconventional oil and gas.One of the key techniques is the microseismic source positioning,and its accuracy is the premise of geological and engineering interpretation.At present,some positioning methods such as isotropic velocity models and time difference of arrivals (TDOA) are often used for source positioning. However their positioning is sometimes inaccurate.We first discuss in this paper an accurate and fast ray tracing method in a horizontal layered elliptical anisotropic medium.This method can quickly and accurately calculate first arrivals for the source positioning.Secondly,the elliptical anisotropic medium is mainly composed of longitudinal velocity and lateral velocity,and is more easily modeled than strong anisotropic media.The longitudinal velocity can be obtained from acoustic logging,and lateral velocity can be obtained from logging,or perforation,or detonating cord signal inversion.At the end of this paper,the classical Geiger positioning me-thod is used to make a theoretical trial calculation.At the same time,the positioning accuracy of both the isotropic model and the elliptical anisotropic model is compared under the condition of stronganisotropic medium.The results show that the elliptical anisotropic model can achieve more accurate positioning than isotropic media under the same condition.
