Abstract:The key of micro-seismic monitoring study isto decide micro-source location.We propose here anew method to inverse micro-source location usingVSP multi-level three component data.Firstly theorientation angle of horizontal geophones is decidedby horizontal components of direct compress wavegenerated from perforation. Then by calculatingtravel time of direct compress wave from every ge-ophone point in 3D space and stacking energy alongT-X curve of direct wave,micro-source distribu-tion range is inversed.After that,a horizontalcomponent conversion of microseismic direct com-press wave and a source-receiver geography azi-muth are used to determine micro-source azimuth.This is to reduce multi-solutions occurred in micro-source inversion. Finally two statistic methods forspace points are introducedsource location.A test nnto confirm themicromicroseismic syntheticdata of homogeneous mediumand line geometry shows thatwith an inclined wellmicro-source locationcanbe inversed accurately and steady by thenewmethodeven with low S/N synthetic data.
