Reservoir prediction on the section of Feixianguan Formation in Yuanba Area, Northeast Sichuan

Abstract:The second section of Feixianguan Formation of Yuanba area in the northeast Sichuan Basin has great potential of the petroleum exploration. Based on the geologic features of oolitic-beach reservoir, accurate reservoir calibration and geological reservoir modeling, we utilize 3D seismic data to determine reservoir seismic response features. In order to predict favorable facies belts of reservoir growth and the macroscopic distribution of reservoir, we adopt paleogeomorphology analysis, seismic facies analysis and multi-attributes analysis. On this basis, we realize impedance inversion to accurately predict effective thickness of oolitic reservoirs and their porosity. So a prediction method for oolitic-beach reservoir is established and the distribution of oolitic-beach reservoir on the second section of Feixianguan Formation is predicted. Meanwhile, reservoir thickness and porosity from the finished wells confirm the accuracy of our predictions.
