Abstract:Lower Yangtze area is favorable for shale gas exploration due to widely spread shale with high TOC. However, structures in this area are rather complicated with complex folds. So signal to noise ratio of seismic data is low and data imaging is poor, which result in huge difficulty in shale gas exploration and development. Based on analysis of existing data, we analyze acquisition parameters with forward modeling, and propose a wideline acquisition geometry: 3 receiver lines with large array (in crossline direction), and 2 source lines with source interval of 60m. Seismic data acquired by this design show that signal to noise ratio is greatly enhanced and much better reflections are obtained. Both forward modeling study and field data acquisitions have proved that this approach is appropriate to improve signal to noise ratio and imaging quality in Lower Yangtze area.
