Gas saturation analysis with seismic dispersion attribute based on patchy-saturation model

Abstract:We study dispersion and attenuation influences with different gas saturations on normal incidence reflection coefficient (NI), velocity and attenuation. It is observed that the dispersion and amplitude versus frequency (AVF) occur in seismic frequency band in partly gas saturated reservoirs. In addition, reflection coefficient frequency gradient is corresponding to dispersion, and both of them are sensitive to gas saturation. Thevefore, we can estimate reservoir gas saturation by crossplots analysis of gas saturation, reflection coefficient frequency gradient, and reflection coefficient.
