Application and effect of GeoEast characteristic interpretation techniques in horizontal well deployment of shale oil reservoirs

Abstract：Chang 7 reservoir in the Mesozoic Triassic Yanchang Formation of Ordos Basin features a large area of shale oil distribution,which is vertically divided into upper,middle,and lower sweet spots,with a total resource of nearly 10 billion tons. Thin silty fine sandstone is the main reservoir of shale oil,and the physical property of the reservoir has obvious control over the oil-bearing property. The physical property "sweet spot" area on the favorable hydrocarbon generation background is the favorable enrichment and development area of shale oil reservoirs. In recent years,with the focus on favorable reservoir evaluation and horizontal well drilling demands of shale oil,3D prediction techniques with six characteristics of "lithology,physical property,oil-bearing property,brittleness,heterogeneity,and source rock quality" based on seismic data are integrated innovatively. According to the characteristics of shale oil accumulation,an integrated application mode of shale oil seismic and geological engineering has been built. The mode contains "selecting the right area, finding the right layer,arranging the team,entering the rake,controlling well length,stabilizing the trajectory,reducing the risk,and assisting in fracturing". By making full use of seismic horizontal advantages,geological macro advantages,and logging vertical advantages the reservoir and structural change characteristics in three-dimensional space. Finally,it provides strong support for the optimized selection of shale oil sweet spot areas,reserve submission,horizontal well location deployment,trajectory guidance,and engineering construction.
