Abstract:Using instantaneous phases correlation characteristic of seismic signal,high- resolution velocity analysis by phase correlation statistics calculates stack velocity spectrum. The instantaneous phases of seismic signal can be treated as directional data in a 2-D complex plane. Building two statistical hypothetical tests according to hypothetical test principle in probabilistic method that are called R test and V test separately and using these probability of two statistical figures resulted from above hypothetical tests ,the measuring function of velocity spectrum can be constructed. Meanwhile,instantaneous information on conventional stack power can be involved in measuring function simultaneously as calculation of velocity spectrum can be conducted sample by sample. The paper made a detailed description of principle of the method,conducted test and calculation using synthetic and real data and compared with conventional velocity spectrum. The results showed that the method is robust and practical,and has higher resolution in velocity and in time compared with conventional method.
