Abstract:Because of the recursion relation between wave impedance and reflection coefficient in seismic trace inversion based on convolution model, the inversion result must be influenced by wave impedance recursion formula, particularly, the initial value of wave impedance. Different initial wave impedance values bring multisolution of inversion. Improper initial value will result in errors of low frequency component, relative wave impedance and stratum thickness to cause pitfalls of seismic data interpretation. Certain influence due to initial deviation is proved by some modeling computations of band limited inversion, sparse pulse inversion and wide-band restrictive inversion. This article describes a practical method for choosing correct initial value to reduce the influence resulting from initial value deviation.
