Abstract:A new reflection image method for VSP common-shotpoint gather data is recommended here. First, the travel time, amplitudes and path along each seismic ray between imaging point and shotpoint (or receiving point)are estimated by deriving Green's function from ray tracing.Then,shotpoint-receiver pairs which meet reflection law are found by using Snell's law. Finally, prestack depth imaging is achieved by using constraint-weighted Kirchhoff integral. This method is adaptable to the vertical and lateral variations of velocity, and it is better than usual VSP-CDP data conversion imaging method. Modeling and real data imaging results show that the method is accurate and improves frequency characteristic of seismic section.
