Abstract:The Layered depth migration technique consists of two major steps: •Derive the reflector geologic model from drilling data plus two-way travel time T0(x) and stack velocity VCDP(x) of seismic events in an interested objective interval by making forward and inverse computations iteratively. •Achieve at interface the layered depth migration of time section by using Kirchhoff integration, with the geologic model as restriction. The technique reduces time and money in objective data processing Its major advantages are the adaptability in an area where velocity varies greatly in lateral direction, and the satisfactory image of high-steep structure (the inclination may be higher than 90 degrees.).It is practically shown that the technique can make geologic structure appear in correct location and shape in seismic section.
