Abstract：The hydrocarbon exploration in mid-Hebei depression underwent three phases:drilling on uplifts,exploration in subdepressians and discovering buried hills.During the first phase,the bareholes(Gu-1,Hua-1 and Hua-4)were drilled an structural highs.These borehales found hydrocarbon show in Ordovician system,which meant that there were geological conditions far hydrocarbon origin and accumula- tian.Geologists came to realize that the further exploration should be in favourable negative tectonic units.During the second phase,a lot of exploratory barehales were drilled which aimed at Palaeogene system within uplifts in subdepressians. These bareholes show that the uplifts in subdepressians are favourable exploration areas indeed.During the third phase,geologists focused their attention an the buried hills where hydrocarbon originated in younger formation but accumulate in ald farmatian.Ren-4 barehole that praduces 1014 tan oil per day was first drilled successfully.Then many barehales which produce respectively mare than 1000 tan ail per day were drilled,so that the huge Renqiu buried-hill ail field was discavered satisfactorily.The gealogical canditians in Linqing depression are different from thase in mid-Hebei depressian;far example,the paleagene system in Linqing de-pressian mainly cansi}ts of red farmatians,farming paar ail generating canditians.Cansequently,the explaratian experience in mid-Hebei depression can not be fully used in Linqing depressian,where the main explaratian abject shauld be the original hydracarbon accumulation in Palaeozaic whale anticline.
