Abstract:Generation and evolution of geologic structures in coastal region of north Shandong Province were always controlled by the regional stress field in northeast-southwest trend, and influenced by Tan-Lu major fault stretching in northeast by north. The wide coexistence of negative inversion fault and negative inversion structure in Palaeozoic Group suggests that the early tectonic compression and late tectonic extension happened due to the coaction of the dual stress fields, therefore, there exist the east local structural zone trending in northwest by north, and the west structural style in northwest trend where depression and uplift occur alternately. It has been proved that such geologic structure is a favourable exploration area because it favoured hydrocarbon generation and late hydrocarbon accumulation
