Abstract:Restricted by both observation accuracy of seismic instruments and computer's ability in data processing, the resolution of velocity curve from seismic inversion fails to satisfy the requirements in oil exploration(for example, inversion of thin bed whose thickness is less than 10 meters).Imagining that sedimentary series is of fractal characteristic,we can obtain detailed velocity variation by performing fractal cornputation, and make the fractal computation result approach real acoustic logging trace as fully as possible. The fractal computation result from inversion velocity curve is called "reconstructed acoustic logging trace. Real data computation shows that the reconstructed acoustic logging trace correlates to the real one very well, with the correlation coefficient better than 0.8( under a desirable condition).
