Abstract:Major reservoir in Southern Bohai Oil Field is the 3rd member turhidite sand in the Shahejie formation. The reservoir in more than 3000m deep shows severe variations in lithology and petrophysical property, and belongs in lithologic fault block reservoir. Old conventional seismic data can hardly he used in reservoir study, so that high resolution seismic exploration and VSP logging were made successfully. The lateral seismic prediction involves the following interpretation jobs: ·comprehensive analysis of average velocity, synthetic seismogram and VSP data in the area ·recognition of reservoir reflection characters in high-resolution seismic section which goes tl.rough well ·lateral reservoir prediction using the reflection characters ·plotting the structural map and isopach map of the reservoir ·offering favourable exploratory well site after reasonable reservoir evaluanon that uses relevant materials, such as dynamic and static data of hydrocarbon. Using the technique, we have interpreted 17 sand bodies covering 38km2 totally, and offered 25 exploration and development well sites. 8 wells have been completed, of which 7 wells produce industrial oil flow. The predicted horizons coincide with the drilled ones very well. Very good exploration effect has been received satisfactorily.
