Abstract:Finite element method is an useful tool for modeling seismic wave in complex medium, it simulates seismic wave propagation quite realistically and displays seismic wave fields in quite detailed way.Its performance on microcomputer is restricted because of both too many grid points and tremendous data which are needed in the finite element modeling.The use of diagonalization matrix, absorption boundart condition and so on reduces cornputaion time and the needed storage,which is thus less than the storage used in finite difference method.
