Abstract:How the formation dip, velocity scan parameters and coherence de-termination affect velocity analysis accuracy is specially discussed on the basis of summing up traditional velocity analysis methods,The designed velocity scan interval t1v must be made to accord with scan accuracy standard, The velocity analysis accuracy may be rai-sed by applying iterative stacking method and multiplying model tracestacking method to common-range gathers.The multiplying model tracestacking method is much more superior than other methods because ofmore concentrated effective energy in shallow and middle formations,rather concentrated energy in deep formation of a velocity spectrum (i.e. less "flat arm effect")and convenient computation etc.
