Forming mechanism of slat dome and analysis of tectonic evolution in B block of Pre-Caspian basin

Abstract:On the basis of wide investigation for forming mechanism and development mode of salt dome,and combining with regional geologic background and the newest interpretation results of studied area,the paper studied the forming mechanism and tectonic evolution of salt dome in work area.The paper first classified the salt dome according to the configuration;then,studied the forming mechanism of each salt dome,and further clarified possible match relation between the each salt dome and its underlying Carboniferous stratigraphic structure by the analysis of tectonic evolution;and finally the quantitative study was carried out by the relation of distribution area in plane to thickness for each slat dome.On the principle of guiding unknown from known,the paper further determined the favorable salt dome and drilling work is implemented for the underlying Carboniferous traps.
