Abstract:Nowadays seismic inversion is widely used in reservoir prediction and fluid detection. In this paper, we apply seismic inversion in reservoir monitoring by introducing time-lapse logging data. First we discuss the principle of high-accuracy 3D extrapolated impedance inversion and nonlinear pseudo log parameter inversion (Seimpar). Then we apply the two methods to real data:seismic impedance inversion obtains 3D high-accuracy impedance volume with the input of seismic and logging data; with the input of 3D impedance volume and time-lapse logging data, nonlinear pseudo log parameter inversion (Seimpar) obtains 3D natural potential and pseudo resistivity data volumes in different periods. Finally we use these 3D data volu-mes for sand body and remaining oil distribution prediction in the purpose of reservoir monitoring. Our application results show that with the proposed approach, over 80% of more than 2 meters thick sands can be successfully identified. Based on our sand body and remaining oil distribution prediction, all the 32 infill wells in an oilfield proposed by our team are producing after drilling, which represents a 100% successful rate.
