Calculations of reflection and conversion points in OBS geometry

Abstract:In this paper,we discuss not only an exact solution of reflection points for horizontal interfaces in an ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) geometry,but also derive formula for conversion point calculation.Since the equation of conversion points cannot be solved by the radical expression,we provide an approximate solution of circular functions which is characterized by fast calculation and minimum error.The proposed approach can be used to process real P-SV wave data of OBS and has bright application potential.
