A deghosting method on variable-depth streamer data based on wavefield extrapolation and inversion

Abstract:Deghosting is a key and difficult step in the high-resolution data processing of marine seismic.Ghosts cause notches,which narrows seismic data bandwidth and affects seriously seismic imaging and reservoir inversion.In this paper,a deghosting method on variable-depth streamer data is deve-loped based on wavefield extrapolation and inversion.First mirror data is generated with wavefield extrapolation.Then the mirror data are applied to the conjugate gradient inversion algorithm.So deghosted data can be obtained with an iterative inversion.Tests on synthetic data and real seismic data show that the proposed deghosting method can effectively attenuate ghost and broaden seismic data bandwidth,which provides high-quality broadband seismic data for further seismic interpretation and inversion.
