Abstract:Early studies suggested that the reservoir-forming conditions in the Altyn Tagh piedmont were unfavorable because it is far from the hydrocarbon generation center.Dongping bedrock gas reservoirs were found in 2011 year,which proves that the bedrock-forming conditions are favorable in this piedmont.and the key requirements for bedrock gas accumulation are Yan-shanian faults.Based on fault plane,section,and evolution characteristics,the relationship among Yanshanian faults,hydrocarbon generation sags,paleotectonic background,and current tectonic framework are analyzed in this paper.The studies have found that the distribution of Jurassic source rocks,late Yanshanian paleo-uplifts,as well as the present structural framework are all controlled by Yanshanian faults.The Yanshanian faults have controlled hydrocarbon migration and accumulation zones.This point of view is of guiding significance to the bedrock hydrocarbon exploration in Altyn Tagh piedmont,and can be a reference for the study of similar areas.
