Non-Gaussian inversion in shale gas reservoir prediction

Abstract:It is very important to use geophysical data to predict shale gas reservoirs.Prestack inversion is an important way to extract elastic parameters from seismic data.Usually,the prestack inversion based on the Gauss model is used with an assumption that seismic noise obeys Gauss distribution.In practice,conventional inversion is difficult to satisfy the remands for reservior prediction.In this paper,noise on seismic data is analyzed,the non-Gaussian inversion is selected for prestack inversion to obtain elastic parameters,and the inversion accuracy is improved.Based on the comparison of different inversion methods,the non-Gaussian inversion method in this area can better indicate shale gas reservoirs.
