Abstract:The deep water area in the northern continental shelf of South China Sea is the important prospect region for oil and gas. However,it is difficult for oil and gas exploration due to rough seafloor such as sharply variation of water depth, crossing canyons, and complicated channels.Using the Gauss Ray Beam forward modeling,we analyze seismic illumination energy distributions to subsurface targets and shooting illumination and receiving illumination in Baiyun Sag of South China Sea which has typical deepwater rough seafloor features.According to shooting illumination and receiving illumination on the rough seafloor and subsurface targets with different number of streamers and different lengths of streamers, and different sailing direction,we find the distribution character of seismic wave energy on the rough seafloor and underlying formation, and the impact of different geometry parameters on reflected seismic energy. It is well instructional worth for seismic survey design of deepwater rough seafloor area in South China Sea.
