Abstract:It is showed by theoretical study and tests that existing fluid in porous medium and its movements are main reasons of dispersion and attenuation of elastic waves.In a process of propagation of seismic waves in porous medium of underground bed,the attenuation by absorption of seismic waves greatly increases since different property of contained fluids,especially when the hydrocarbon is contained in the rocks. The attenuation by absorption of seismic waves is closely relative to amplitude information and has higher sensibility if in comparison with other seismic information. On the basis of Biot theory and test data in lab,the paper expounded that the different fluids in reservoir has different attenuation action on the amplitudes in a condition of multi-phase medium and by using the attenuation information of amplitudes of seismic waves to study hydrocarbon detection of carbonate buried-hill fracture-cavernous reservoir, achieve good application effects.
