Identification technology of fracture zone and its strike based on the Curvelet transform

Abstract:Based on Curvelet transform,a new method is proposed in this paper to predict faults and fracture zones.Appling the multi-scale,multi-direction and strong localization characteristics of Curvelet transform,the method gives the different construction coefficients in the Curvelet domain,obtains seismic data with different frequency bands and different directions,and then combines with coherence edge direction to predict fractures and fracture zone strikes.Applications of the method on model data and real seismic data show its effectiveness.
