High precision finite difference Rayleigh wave simulation and frequency dispersion characteristics extraction

Abstract:The frequency dispersion characteristics of the Rayleigh wave are much related to characteristics of subsurface media.The frequency dispersion characteristics of the Rayleigh wave can be used to invert the shallow geological structures.In this paper the flexible high order finite difference operator,the reasonable surface boundary conditions and the efficient SPML absorption conditions were utilized so that the high precision Rayleigh wave forward modeling records were obtained,based on the records the frequency dispersion characteristics extracted from modeling and the theoretical frequency dispersion characteristics were correlated,it can be seen that they match very well.The results proved that the Rayleigh wave finite difference modeling has high precision and the modeling method can be utilized to study the frequency dispersion characteristics of the Rayleigh wave in complex situation.
