Abstract:Boron neutron logging is a well logging method in which the logging were respectively conducted twice before and after boron injection in a same well, based on the difference between the formation neutron capture cross section and by using of rock volume model, the movable saturation was calculated, then the residual oil saturation could be further determined. The relevant parameters in the movable water saturation calculation were paid attention and were studied in this paper, the capture cross section ∑W1 before boron injection is related to the formation water salinity,it increases with the growth of the formation water salinity, the capture cross section ∑W2 is not only related to the formation water salinity, but also related to the used amount of the boron,it increases very rapidly with the increase of the formation water salinity and used amount of the boron. However the difference between ∑W1 and ∑W2 is only related to the used amont of boron, not the formation water salinity.Through the template which was made in the studies, the method was applied in the oilfield, good results were achieved. The movable water saturation calculated in the application was seen improved a lot.
