Abstract:Seismic wavefront self-interaction or multi-valued seismic ray is a natural phenomenon whenthe seismic wave propagates through a media con-taming low-velocity abnormal bodies or bending in-terfaces,which is commonly ignored in previousstudy.However,it is true that the later arrivalsmay contain some useful information regarding tothe low velocity zone or the irregular reflection in-terface and have a potential to improve the ray cov-erage .Based on the phase space method,we im-prove in this paper the wavefront constructionmethod in two aspects:firstly,using a continuouswavefront mapping method to deal with the reflec-tion interface;secondly,using a precise receiver-location algorithm in the ray tracing process.Sev-eral simple model simulations indicate that the im-proved wavefront construction method in phasespace is an effective and accurate approach to tracemulti-valued seismic rays.
