A method for high-precision prediction of formation pressure

Abstract:We propose in this paper a new high-precision method for abnormal formation pressure prediction. Firstly, we calculate the background interval velocity from surface to target with 3-D constraint Dix equation. Then, we calculate the interval velocity of the target with high-precision impedance inversion. Finally, we use Fillippone equation to predict the formation pressure along with these two interval velocities. Experiment results show the formation pressure prediction by the proposed method matches very with the actual measurements, which proves the correctness and validity of the method.
