Abstract:During the migration velocity analysis based on wave equation,the wave equation prestack depth migration on common-offset gathers is very important,because it can provide the migrated image(the common image point gather on different offsets)that can be interpreted in geology.Based on the special physical character of common-offset gathers,the paper carries out the wave equation prestack depth migration on common-offset gathers by Green function method.The stable Rytov approximation formula for the scattered wavefield generated by the lateral variation of slowness is used for the construction of Green function operator.The test in Marmousi model shows that the migration results obtained by the wave equation prestack depth migration on common-offset by Green function method not only is the same as that of by the formal double square root operator method,but also can offer the common image point gathers on different offsets for migration velocity analysis,and has good adaptability to various geometry.However,the Green function method carried out in the paper has more calculation effort than the formal double square root operator method.
