Abstract:Cross-feed noise (CFN) is an unconventional noise generated during marine streamer data acquisition, whereas there are few studies on it. Since the amplitude, phase, and frequency of CFN are very close to effective signals, coupled with its randomness in the spatio-temporal domain, CFN attenuation is very challenging. Thus, this paper conducts a detailed analysis of CFN. Firstly, the CFN generation mechanism is illustrated, and then the distribution characteristics of the noise in the amplitude, frequency, and spatio-temporal domain are introduced. Secondly, CFN is identified by the methods such as frequency analysis, scanning, and common shot stack. Meanwhile, the discrete Fourier transform is adopted to transform the single shot into the frequency-space domain to identify the noise, and then the noise is inverted into the spatio-temporal domain. As a result, cross-correlation is conducted between the identified noise model channel and single shot to obtain the noise model of the shot domain. Finally, the CFN is suppressed by multi-channel frequency division adaptive subtraction. Example analysis shows that the CFN attenuation method is an important supplement to highly advanced marine streamer data processing.
