Abstract:Progradational reflection configuration is a very significant reflection phenomenon in seismic section. It can be used to determine boundaries of depositional sequence and system tracts,current direction,hydraulic energy and manifold depositional environmenu. We discuss the multiclassification of progradational reflections,the difference between progradation and lateral accretion,the relation between progradation and sequence or system tract,the identification of false progradation,and so on. Six kinds of sedimentary environment causing progradational reflection are listed,which are alluvial fan,fandelta,delta,turbidite fan,continental slope,and carbonate platform margin.
