Abstract:The prediction of fracture in the reservoir and its distribution regularity is nearly equivalent to oil/gas prediction when oilfield entered development stage.Based on multi-scale edge detection algorithm proposed by Mr.Taner(1999),the paper proposed a new edge detection algorithm of seismic fracture,in which the key point is to adopt Gaussian weighting method with adjustable step length to carry out edge detection of fracture;to use multi-scale function of wavelet function to analyze relationship between wavelet scale factor and fracture scale in order to improve the fracture-predicted precision. The paper applied the method to carry out the prediction of fracture and cavern developing feature for Ordovician carbonate reservoir in Tahe area that has been recovered for almost 20 years. The studied results showed the seismic detecting results of fracture and cavern is better coincident with practically drilling results, showing the characters of high computational precision and stable algorithm, which is able to provide important foundation for next exploration and development of reservoir.
