Abstract:When bed thickness is less than one fourth of wavelength of awavelet, the apparent interval travel time of the seismic response is nearly a constant,that is to say, it almost remains unchanged with the variation of bed thickness.However,the amplitude of observed seismic data shows regular variation; this means the information oP bed thickness is included in seismic amplitude.According to this principle,we made a quantitative interpretation on thickness of oil-bearing sand bed in bottom member of Dongying formation in south Bohai sea. The interpretation involves the following steps;1.extract good wavelets using logarithm separation method; 2.make high-duality synthetic seismogram,using known well-logging data so as to know the seismic response of thin reservoir; 3.yerform high-resolution processing of seismic data by making use of izomomorphic deconvolution or low-order adaptive deconvolution,etc.,so that a good display of seismic response of thin reservoir can he obtained; 4.design a template of interval travel time and amplitude;5.draw the curve of interval travel times and amplitudes, which were taken along the thin reservoir in lateral direction;6.draw the isopach map of the thin reservoir, The drilling data of well BZ34-2-2 has proven this method feasible.
