Abstract:In the basin where there exists quite complete sedimentary sequence consisting of Paleozoic,Mesozoic and Cenozoic formations, the seismic true velocity function V(z) is usually nonlinear, that is to say, in expression V(z)=V0(1+βz)1/N, N is a natural number above one, This paper deals with some methods based on this theory: 1.the method for determining the velocity regularity; 2.the method for computing V0 and β; 3.the spatial correction based on variable velocity curved ray principle, and the spatial correction based on variable velocity straight ray principle; 4.the method for mapping structural map using post-stack migration sections, and the method for computing templates. All these were proved feasible by the examples in Talimu basins.
