Abstract:Field magnetotelluric sounding curves are distorted by the lateral nonuniformity of medium,so the geoclectric section obtained from these cures can not truly represent the feature of subsurface section.In order to improve the geolgy effect of magnetotelluric sounding, finite element method is used to compute the apparent resistivity curve of magnetotelluric sounding on high resistivity horst;furthermore,it is also discussed how the apparent rcsistivity is influenced by the highness,width,internal high resistivity bed, and side dip of horst, We come to the conclusion that the configuration of subsurface structure can be roughly ascertained from the apparent rcsistivity characters,and that some magnetotelluric sounding parameters can be approximatcly estimated under a favourable condition.
