Abstract:Three applications of maximum entropy theory to seismic data processing are described in the paper.The frequency spectrum made by the maximum entropy method is very sharp, and its resolution is much higher than that of Fourier transform spectrum in the case of a short time window.The maximum entropy deconvolution has very good time adaptability. Particularly, when applied to the seismic records which underwent minimum phase conversion, the maximum entropy deconvolution may give best resolution, In estimating acoustic impedances, the maximum entropy method is only adaptable to sections with few reflections. Its practical value should be further verified in practice.
