Abstract:There is a relevant forward modeling algorithm for phase-shift interpolation migration; however, the phase-shift factor for extrapolation in forward modeling is different from that in migration, and needs no recalibration. The use of a new variable continuation step method allows personal computer to fast perform seismic forward modeling using phase-shift interpolation. This method suits the modeling for any complicated geological structures and is not restricted in formation dip, there being stable algorithm and no frequency dispersion. It is theoretically shown that this is a practical method for wave equation forward modeling because of its fast accurate operation and suitableness to complicated geological structure.
