Abstract:Trace integration value represents relative wave impedance.it reflects the variation of relative interval velocity in a seismic section. When absolute interval velocity section can hardly be produced.relative interval velocity section along with drilling, logging.oil field geological informations and so forth can also be used to quantitatively describe thin interbedded reservoir and to model the petrophysical parameters (porosity.permeability and saturation )in three dimensional space. Some trace integration sections produced from the geological models of different complicated thin interbeds are analysed in detail. The characteristics of trace integration section which involves thin interbedded reservoir are detailed systematically. Trace integration characteristic formula independent of wavelet type (zerophase wavelet required)is proposed.offering a theoretical basis for quantitative interpreta tion and numerical modeling. Furthermore, the paper explains how to quantitatively interpret thin interbed thickness in trace integration section, and how to derive three-dimensional data volume of porosity, permeability or saturation, etc. from logging data.
