Abstract:Scale factor estimation is a key step to OBC dual sensor data combing processing. Conventional scanning estimation is very time-consumed. To solve this problem, we propose a characteristic equation algorithm in this paper. Through calculating auto- and cross-correlation functions of dual sensor data, we construct a characteristic equation of scale factor and obtain optimal scale factor. This optimal scale factor is performed in dual sensor data combing processing. With the proposed approach multiples from water column reverberations are eliminated, and the bandwidth of combined data is widened because lower frequency components from geophones and higher frequency components from hydrophone data are merged. So both data S/N and resolution are improved. Real data examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
