Fault-karst carbonate reservoir prediction: a case study in Ordovician buried hills,HLHT Oilfield

Abstract:Oil production of wells in carbonate reservoirs is usually unstable,for this kind of reservoir the prediction success rate is rather low.Based on new understanding of fault-karst reservoir formation mechanism,we sums up six types of geological interpretation models for this reservoir.With the GeoEast software platform,we conduct a comprehensive study on fault-karst reservoir.Quite a few interpretation tools are used,such as high-precision fracture identification,buried hill trend prediction,fault evaluation,and fault-karst body classification.Fault-controlled reservoir locations,the difference of hydrocarbon potential,the pathway between caves are clarified.Fault-karst reservoir depicted and characterized.Reservoir scales and fault-karst belts are evaluated,which provided a good basis for the future exploration deployment.In the exploration and development of the HLHT Oilfield,the drilling success rate is increased based on our drill well proposal.
