Abstract:The elastic wave velocity, attenuation and permeability of mudstone, siltstone, sandstone and graywacke were determined in triaxial pressure apparatus; and the fabrics of sample rocks were analysed respectively. Experiments led to the conclusions: that sandstone has high permeability because it has high porosity, good gradation and fine psephicity of grains, and perfect connectivity between inner pores. That siltstone is less permeable than sandstone because it has smaller grains, smaller pores among the grains and poorer connectivity between pores. That with the variations of country rock pressure and axial differential stress. the above four rock samples all show the variations of velocity, attenuation and permeability, which indicates the variation of fabric, particularly the variation of microcrack.
