Application of AVO attribute analysis technique in exploration of Northeast area of Kenli in Shengli Oilfield of Sinopec

Abstract:Regarding the low signal-to-noise ratio(S/N Ratio) which widely exists in AVO attribute analysis,a resolution workflow was proposed as the following:the angle gathers were partially stacked,then the partial stacks of the angle gather were input and used in the AVO processing and analysis.With this resolution workflow,the AVO attribute analysis for Ⅳ、Ⅴ sand groups of upper Guantao formation in Northeast area of Kenli were conducted.The analysis results show that inverted S-impedance and μ-ρdata are useful for lithology recognition,and the Poisson's ratio and large incidence angle seismic stacking data are sensitive for oilgas existence in the zone of interests.A map extracted along the zone of interests from large incidence angle seismic stacking data matches the drilling results very well(up to 93 percent).In order to avoid the ambiguity and raise exploration successful rate,the authors developed the AVO attribute analysis workflow which was based on regional geological studies and integrated and utilized the information from multi-disciplines,such as geology,seismic exploration and well logging.
