SSR and DSR wave equation velocity modeling technique and its application

Abstract:Wave equation pre-stack depth migration is the most effective tool for imaging complex structures,while generating velocity model for the complex structures is a key step for pre-stack depth migration.In this paper based on Single Square Root(SSR) wave equation migration algorithm and Double Square Root(DSR) wave equation migration algorithm,a wave equation migration velocity model building technique was proposed and then was successfully developed,which is effective and works well even when vertical and lateral velocities change,by integrating batch processing with interactive visualization technology,the interactive wave equation migration velocity model building software was developed.The advantage of this technique is to use SSR to conduct phase shift method migration,and to utilize DSR to process lateral velocity change.The interval velocity of the final velocity model can be illustrated in both time domain and depth domain,and the theory model and field seismic data processing show that the technique is not only correct,but also effective for pre-stack depth migration.
