Abstract:Wide field electromagnetic method was applied for carbonaceous shale exploration in Hunan province, China. The carbonaceous shale shows as low resistivity because of its high carbon content. Our own developed “3D gravity-magnetic-electromagnetic integrated inversion, imaging, and interpretation system” is used to process and interpret these data. Underground resistivity characteristics of carbonaceous shale are obtained, and electrical distribution patterns are identified. The results show that the wide field electromagnetic method is effective for carbonaceous shale distribution detection.
