Lithofacies classification and reservoir delineation for volcanic rock in XB area

Abstract:Based on the well logging and seismic response characteristics and by integrating with drilling and geological data, several integrated seismic prediction methods, such as seismic attribute analysis method, structure trend surface analysis method, seismic constraint inversion method and 3D visualization method were used to classify lithofacies of the volcanic rock in XB area of Songliao Basin. The lithofacies was classified to 3 sub-lithofacies, they are explosion facies, overflow facies and volcanic-sedimentary facies, and the explosion facies, overflow facies and fracture developed zone were enclosed as favorite volcanic rock gas reservoir. By integrating with density inversion method and based on the reservoir thickness extracted by multi-lithologies and multi-thresholds principle, the palaeogeomorphology, effective reservoir thickness and distribution range of the volcanic crater in the study area were carefully delineated and then were proven by drilling.
