Abstract:Based on the analysis for the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing P-wave amplitude and velocity to detect fracture, the authors believe that the Amplitude Verse Azimuth (AVA) method can describe thin layer characteristics, but it is easily affected by normal movout correction and static correction, amplitude recovery and noise, so it is not stable. The Velocity Verse Azimuth (VVA) is more stable, but it can only be used to identify thick reservoir as its resolution is not high enough to resolve the thin layer reservoir. Due to the disadvantages of the methods mentioned above the Multi-azimuthal velocity and AVOA synchronous analysis method was introduced in this paper, through adjusting velocity to calculate corresponding AVO parameters, the AVO parameters were used to calculate the similarity coefficient in velocity analysis, as a result the optimum velocity and AVO parameters were estimated and determined.
