Abstract:Azimuth Density Neutron(ADN)tool devel-oped by Schlumberger Oilfield Services can imple-ment imaging data acquisition in 16 azimuth fansand 4 quarters around the well. Formerly, it onlyconsidered the situation that the drill-bit drills a-long the dip of formation and without consideringthe computational issue of dip angle and incline azi-muth of formation in non-dip drilling conditionwhen using ADN tool for real-time dip computa-tion of formation, so the computed dip is not truedip of formation. In order to get the dip and trendof formation relative to borehole, the paper cuts thewell segment with interface information of forma-tion along and vertical to the plane of axial direc-tion of drilling shaft, obtaining the angle relation-ship of formation‘s interface relative to drillingshaft, the dip and trend of formations interface rel-ative to borehole can be computed by computingthe angle(e,)between the formation's interfaceand axial direction of drilling shaft and angle(e})between the formation's interface on cross sectionof drilling shaft and horizontal chord, then the truedip and trend of formation can be obtained by com-puting the correction of well inclination. The prac-tical application showed the approach presented bythe paper can accurately compute the attitude dataof formation around the horizontal well.
